Bonefish Grill will always have a special place in my heart. I worked at the South Tampa location for about two years and left when I became pregnant with my son. Those two years were some of the best I have had in Tampa and I made so many friends that are still in my life today.
Recently I was invited to visit one of the newly remodeled locations in Bradenton, Lakeland & Venice. Intrigued, I eagerly accepted and chose Lakeland since it is closest to where I live. I dined there this past Monday and was blown away by not only the food and service but the gorgeous new vibe of the interior. With warm earth tones, such as my favorite shade of blue, I felt right at home and was reminded of my time as an employee of Bonefish.
Never wanting to dine alone, I brought a friend with me so that we could sample multiple items and enjoy a night out. Since it was Monday, Bonefish features $5 Martinis and we both decided to partake. He went with a diry martini and I enjoyed their Ocean Trust Tropic Heat Martini. I am a spice girl and this martini did not disappoint. Made with Absolut vodka that has been house-infused with pineapples, freshly muddled mango, lemon juice and garnished with a thin slice of jalapeño, it was just what I needed to get my week off to a good start. Aside from the great taste, each purchase of this drink helps Bonefish support the Ocean Trust Foundation. How cool is that?
One of my favorite dishes at Bonefish has always been Mussels Josephine® (PEI). Ever since I first tried them back in 2004, they have been one of my favorite dishes in Tampa and never disappoint, Plump mussels with tomatoes, red onion, garlic, basil and lemon wine sauce, you will not be able to resist. Do NOT get me started on their bread and how I love to just dip it in the lemon wine sauce. It is life changing.
While I do have my favorite dishes at Bonefish, I really wanted to try one of the seasonal features on their specials menu. My friend and I had a hard time deciding, as there were so many tempting items, but ultimately he went with the Creole-Style Redfish and I had Kate’s Wild North Atlantic Haddock. We both made excellent choices.
My friend and I were both stuffed but I was craving coffee to wake me up for the drive home. Not one to resist dessert, I just had to end the night on a sweet note. We each ordered coffee and shared Jen’s Jamaican Coconut Pie. Every bite was pure bliss as I savored the creamy coconut custard soaked in Myers’s Rum sauce with fresh whipped cream. I was indeed a happy girl.
Unfortunately my regular camera is not working at the moment and I shot everything with my iPhone. I will be going back very soon to capture more of the beauty of the food at Bonefish with a proper camera.
If you live in Tampa Bay, you must visit one of the three remodeled Bonefish locations. You will fall in love with their new look and always excellent food and service.
