I first spotted some of Rosemary’s Southern Cakes at one of my favorite local spots for produce, South Tampa Fresh Market, about eight months ago. As I was picking up fresh peaches for a beer dinner I was putting together, I saw them displayed at the front counter. Intrigued, I purchased one as a back-up for dessert that night in case my dessert didn’t work out. Luckily, I did not have to serve the gorgeous caked I bought and was able to enjoy it at home. This was the beginning of a new love affair.
While I have not yet met Rosemary, I know a few things about her. She makes incredible pound cake, she has great taste when selecting retail locations for her cakes (um, hello Datz), and she has great taste in food. (I follow her on Instagram). I can’t wait to meet this talented lady and tell her in person how much I love her pound cake.
Pound cake is one of my go-to desserts because it is so versatile. Warm it up and serve it with coffee, grill it and top with sliced peaches or strawberries and ice cream. You drizzle it with hot fudge, which reminds me, Rosemary also sells her signature fudge sauce, which I have not yet had the pleasure of trying.
I know that with just one bite, you will love Rosemary’s Southern Cakes just as much as I do and that is why I am giving away cake to a reader. The winner will need to pick up the cake at one of the local retail locations. I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year than with one of these fabulous local cakes. Next month, I will be writing a special feature on Rosemary’s Southern Cakes along with serving ideas for entertaining guests or just a family dessert after dinner.
In the meantime, here is where you can find Rosemary’s Southern Cakes and Fudge Sauce:
