I am sure most of you are watching the Bucs game but I have nothing but holiday sweets on my mind. Now that my insanely busy last few weeks have drawn to a close, I am ready to enjoy the final week before Christmas and get busy in the kitchen. Over the last week, I have been enticed by various treats from one of my favorite Tampa icons, Alessi Bakery.
Located at 2909 W Cypress Street in Tampa, Alessi is one of the places that I featured back when I first began my blogging journey. I was drawn to their history, which began in 1912, and was excited to visit a place that was a Tampa landmark. Part of the reason I started this blog was to try and cure my homesickness for California by falling in love with Tampa. Alessi immediately made me think of some of my favorite bakeries back in San Jose and San Francisco and they were the first place where I tried deviled crab. I also love that they are a family-run business because nothing inspires me more than carrying on family traditions, especially in the food world.
I stopped in this past week with my kids and we spent an hour or so admiring all of their baked goods and took some holiday cookies home. Their selection of Italian cookies always makes me smile, as I have so many favorites.
My children were ecstatic to see all of the gorgeous holiday cookies and now we have plans to do some serious cookie baking this week. I just love all of the holiday colors.
I want to share some holiday cheer with you and will be giving away some holiday cookies to a reader. To enter, simply click on the link below. Winner must be local and be able to pick up their cookies at the bakery. I will choose a winner on Wednesday, December 21st at 9 pm.[?]
