Eating, My Favorite ROUXtine #31DaysOfLove

Eat and Drink

I love to eat and break the ROUXles. This year, I have something different planned for Christmas Eve and it involves lots of food and wine. I will be dining at Roux in South Tampa for a very special Christmas Eve Réveillon. Before you break out the French translator, (don’t worry I had to myself), a “réveillon” is a lengthy dinner held on the evenings that precede both Christmas and New Year’s Day. The name stems from the word “réveil (which translates to “waking”), because these dinners usually mean staying awake until after midnight. These elaborate feasts are a tradition in New Orleans, Belgium, France, Québec, Northern Ontario and other French speaking places. In other words, Roux will be featuring a ROUXmarkable menu for one of my favorite nights of the year. I am so excited to get dressed to the nines and to treat myself to a luxurious evening. Santa knows, I have been very good this year.

Since it’s opening, ROUX has become one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa. Every experience is filled with elegance and unforgettable culinary treasures. Not only do they serve my all-time favorite cocktail, the French 75, they have the best char-grilled oysters I have ever encountered. Just thinking about them is making me weak in the knees. Do not get me started on the bread….it is life changing.

After looking at the menu that Executive Chef James Williams has put together, it is all I can think about. With features such as Crab Stuffed Flounder Meunièrer, Hard Cider Duck Breast with apple, green bean, bacon saute and roasted fingerling potatoes, Doberge Napoleon with Genoese cake, chocolate ganache and lemon granita, to name just a few, it is shaping up to be an epic meal.

Can you imagine sitting in such a stunning place and eating like a king? This dinner will be all I can think about for the next ten days.

This sounds like a great Christmas Eve dinner! My family always eats the same breakfast every year on Christmas morning.

Now that everyone is grown we do not have any more holiday traditions that we currently practice. I cannot wait to start new ones when I have my own family.
