Happy Thanksgiving Weekend! I hope you are all enjoying time with family and friends. I have many things to be thankful for and one of my many blessings of being a part of Tampa Bay Bloggers. This group is filled with so many talented people and they all inspire me on a daily basis. Because of my hectic work schedule I am not able to participate in as many events as I would like to, but with the new year comes new beginnings and I am looking forward to getting more involved.
Earlier this month, a few of us met at Chicken Salad Chick Tampa in Temple Terrace and enjoyed an intimate evening filled with delicious bites, laughter and love. I had never heard of Chicken Salad Chick before and was excited to discover a new place. Besides, any time spent with Jessica (Tampa Mom Runs), Caitlyn (Live, Sweat, Sleep, Repeat.) and Tia (Pennies in my Pocket), is sure to be stellar.
**Before I begin my summary of the evening, I must apologize. The night that we were dining at Chicken Salad Chick, I was dealing with severe vertigo due to an inner ear infection. I had not yet been to the doctor and had been experiencing severe headaches and dizziness for about two weeks. I was really not feeling well and could not enjoy myself as I normally would. My pictures are not up to my standards and I plan on returning again so I can have a “do over” and indulge in more of their fantastic menu.
Located at 2790 E Fowler Ave, Ste 490, in Tampa, Chicken Salad Chick is must go to destination for chicken salad lovers. Such a simple concept yet so diverse in their offerings, they feature the best chicken salad I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Everything they offer is made hand each morning, using only premium chicken tenderloin. You will find something for all chicken salad lovers as they offer sweet and savory ingredients with their secret blend of spices and seasoning. I never realized that chicken salad could be so diverse and was truly blown away by their selections such as Classic Carol, Nutty Nana, Sassy Scotty, Dixie Chick, Jalapeno Holly and so many more. We also indulged in other offerings such as grape salad, hearty soups, and decadent desserts.
From the moment I stepped inside, I truly felt at home. These days, it is rare to go somewhere and get that feeling of Southern hospitality. I can’t express enough how welcome we felt by owners Brad and Tammy. You could see the passion in their eyes as they talked about the food and the history of the brand.
As I learned from franchise owners, Brad and Tammy, Chicken Salad Chick was conceived by Stacy Brown who was so passionate about finding the perfect chicken salad that she tried chicken salad everywhere and began perfecting her own recipe at home, much to the delight of her neighbors and co-workers. At the time, she was a single mom with a dream, and I found that very inspiring since I can relate. Before she knew it, everyone was requesting her chicken salad and business was booming. After a run-in with the County Health Department which halted her business, since it was not permitted to sell food out of a home kitchen, she made her dream a reality and with the help of her future husband created “The Chicken Salad Chick.” Today there are over 40 franchise locations across the South East.
I am getting hungry just typing this and thinking about their sandwiches. We shared a “Sassy Scotty” on a croissant which is a zesty blend of ranch, bacon and shredded cheddar.
We sampled a seasonal salad and both baked potato and tortilla soup. Both were fantastic and had I been feeling better, I would have ordered some to take home. The salad was right up my alley as it combined some of my favorites such as strawberries and apples with their signature poppyseed dressing.
Hand down, one of the favorites by everyone was their grape salad. My picture does not do it any justice so just imagine red and white seedless grapes covered in a sweet cream cheese mixture and topped with brown sugar and crushed pecans. It. Was. Divine. I would make the 30 minute drive from my house just for that.
Another thing that caught my attention is that they offer catering. This was of particular interest to me since I oversee catering at work and I was impressed with their menu and the presentation of one of their platters. The next time I need something catered, I will definitely give them a call.
We all had a great time and I am very thankful I was able to attend. If you are in the area, please stop by and enjoy this adorable place with Southern charm.
I have a gift card to Chicken Salad Chick to give away to a lucky ready. Simply enter below and the winner will be chosen on December 3rd. Good Luck!
