One of my favorite things about my weekly wing feature is getting the opportunity to try different places based on suggestions from my wing-loving friends. A guy that I know has been raving about the wings at Duffy’s in Tampa for quite some time. Truth be told, he can be very annoying since he is a Patriots fan and thinks he knows everything about football, but I have to give him credit on the recommendation for Duffy’s since he was actually right on the money.
I popped in for a quick lunch and since I was by myself, I ordered their Wings 3 Ways which consists of 12 wings tossed in your choice of any three of their sauces. You can have the wings traditional, hand breaded, naked or boneless. I went with naked and chose Asian Sesame, Spicy Roasted Garlic and Mango Habanero. Of course, I wanted to try so many more sauces but I can only eat so many wings.
I have always been a spice girl and tend to go for the hotter sauces,so my next choice was Mango Habanero. Fruit and spice go together like peanut butter and jelly. Duffy’s again struck gold with this winning flavor combo and I had no problem fishing them all up.
One of my friends works at Duffy’s and raved about the Spicy Roasted Garlic. Garlic is a staple in my life and I could not resist trying their spin on a spicy garlic wing sauce. Hands down, it was my favorite of the three. I do not know what their secret is but they managed to achieve the perfect balance of flavors. All of the sauces that I tried were so good that I did not really need to use any dressing for dipping.
Aside from the great wings, my entire experience was fantastic. Service was prompt and attentive and the vibe of the restaurant was cheerful and welcoming. All of the employees from the hostess to the servers and management seemed so happy to be there and the positivity was contagious. I left with a happy belly and a huge smile on my face. I am anxious to return to try more of their menu items and perhaps catch a game on one of their many TVs.
Duffy’s is located at 1580 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. in Tampa. Close to 275 and Raymond James stadium, it is centrally located and easy to get to. With a full bar. excellent beer selection and lots of tempting menu choices, there is sure to be something for everyone.
I hope you all have a great week and I look forward to sharing more exciting dining destinations with you all this week.
