I love checking out new places and when I heard about Taps Deli and Brewhouse in Riverview, I knew I had to try their wings. Located at 5914 Providence Rd, it is conveniently located in the bustling area of the Winthrop Town Centre which is home to Acropolis, Boca, EATS! American Grill, Ciccio’s Cali, The Egg and I and more. I popped in for lunch and was delighted to learn that it was “Wing Wednesday” and that I could get 8 wings for $6.
Since Taps Deli is fairly new, I can only imagine that was the reason it was empty at 12 pm. Aside from myself, there was only one other table and a few bar patrons. When my server finally came over to take my order, I asked what she recommended for a wing sauce out of Buffalo, Garlic Parm, Sweet Thai Chili and Honey BBQ. She simply said “they are all good,” so I decided to just go old school and try Buffalo.
Ok, let’s start with the good. The wings were a nice size, piping hot and sauced to perfection. While the Buffalo sauce was just ok, I wish I would have maybe tried Honey BBQ or Sweet Thai Chili. When I get wings, I always look for something different and if a place only has the standards, I like to ask the server what they recommend. With that being said, let me go with the less than stellar parts of the visit. While my server was nice, there was something missing from my visit. I felt that the place was not very inviting. The sign at the front still had the Taco Tuesday specials even though it was Wednesday and they had wings on special. I did not feel very welcome there and would most likely not return. Since there were only two tables including myself, I guess I expected better service. All in all, it was ok. I am sure they have other great menu items, I am just not in a hurry to return.
Until next Wingsday…..
