It is no secret that wings and football are two of my favorite things and they are one of the reasons I chose to feature a weekly wings post. Chicken wings are an essential part of NFL Sunday and something I look forward to as the weekend gets closer. I am excited about today’s feature because I finally got to visit a place that has been on my radar for quite sometime and also happens to be a Pittsburgh Steeler bar. (I am a HUGE Steelers fan in case you didn’t know).
Located in the heart of Palma Ceia on Henderson, The Blind Goat has been open for a little over a year and I finally made it by last weekend. My hectic schedule with working for a restaurant and being a single mom often prevents me from going out as often as I would like. so I made a date with myself and kids to stop by this past Sunday. We arrived around noon, as I wanted to beat the NFL crowd since I had my kids. Believe me, I wanted to stay and cheer on my Steelers while eating wings and sipping on adult libations, but mom duty comes first and we also happen to have the NFL ticket at home. 🙂
Now, let me just say that the Blind Goat has one of the best menus I have seen for a sports bar in quite sometime. With creative items and innovative cocktails, they are an asset to the area. With selections such as bar pies, sandos, dips and wings, I wanted one of everything. Since I was there for wings, I ordered 12 and went for Carolina Gold and Sweet Thai Chili.
The Blind Goat bakes their wings which, in my opinion, is so much better than frying. Not only are baked wings a healthier alternative, they maintain a crispy outside with a fall-off-the bone juicy inside. The flavor is so much better and enhances the flavor of the sauce.
The Sweet Thai Chili was great but I LOVED the Carolina Gold. When I go out for wings, I always try to pick something that stands out or is a little different than the classic Buffalo or BBQ. Carolina gold is sweet and tangy as a result of a mustard base. I love a good Carolina Gold and they did not disappoint.
My kids shared of of the Blind Goat’s famous bar pies and had the Islander with meatballs, sausage, and pepperoni atop red sauce and Mozzarella. I, of course, had to have a slice and it was magical. My next visit will include sampling a few bar pies in addition to something from their craft cocktail selection.
I had an incredible time at The Blind Goat and the service was phenomenal. The staff really made us feel and home and I am beyond excited to return. With the Blind Goat, my prayers have finally been answered. I now have a wonderful Steelers bar close to home to enjoy games and indulge in culinary treasures.
My little wing assistant, Gia, had a great time and like me, is anxious to return.
Thank you Blind Goat for an incredible Sunday!
