After only a few weeks into my weekly wing feature, I came across some wings that are going to be tough to beat. They have everything I look for in a wing….flavor, texture, spice, creativity and size. If you know me, then you know that I like big wings and I cannot lie. Ha ha, sorry I just had to go there but it is true. Small wings do nothing for me, especially when you are sharing them with a friend and then you end up fighting over the last wing because you are both still hungry. Wings should be jumbo and require the use of both hands.
For today’s feature (and my current favorite) I went to Datz. By now it is no secret that I am their biggest fan and I have written about them a zillion times. Let’s go ahead and make it a zillion and one and when you taste their Yum Yum Wings you will understand why they are so dang special. Datz has always been an inspirational place for me and to this day, I still get chills of excitement when I walk in the door. Back in early 2010 they inspired me to become a blogger and because of them, I have had the pleasure of meeting so many key people in my life. Datz is always on top and with good reason. Their passion for food mixed with creativity and humor is like no other. I have always believed that when you combine food and laughter, you create magic. Datz has had me under their spell for over 6 years and my love affair with them has lasted longer than any of my relationships. Lord knows that at this point, I just need to find a guy that loves Datz as much as I do!
Moving right along, let’s talk about their Yum Yum Wings. I am a person that eats with my eyes first and these wings had me at hello. Gorgeous in color and appealing to all of my senses, I could not stop photographing my plate. I am not the best photographer (God know I need help) but these made my skills look pretty decent because they are so photogenic.
Nice and crispy, perfect in size and tossed with a sweet and spicy Asian pineapple-chile sauce, they are topped off with chopped cashews. I have no shame and devoured them all. Sweet yet with a kick, these wings made me smile after an otherwise crappy day. The only things missing was a beer and a Steelers game.
I must interrupt this post to introduce my little Gia who was my photography and wing assistant. Aint’ she cute?
So, Datz does it again and I highly suggest you head over and check out their latest menu cover. With their spin on American Beauty, they have created “American Foodie” and are also bringing back brinner. Yep, starting this Sunday, October 8th, Datz and their kick-ass bakery Dough will both be open until 8 pm on Sundays. This is perfect for me since I tend to stay in my pj’s all day and crave waffles and mimosas at 6 pm. I am giving away a gift card to Datz, so be sure to enter below so you can go and make your own delicious memories as an #AmericanFoodie.
