It is no secret that one of my favorite places in South Tampa is Big Ray’s Fish Camp. Their grouper sandwich has had me hooked since my first visit and I have yet to find a better grouper sandwich in the bay area. With the exception of trying a few other of their signature items such as their Shrimp Po’ Boy, Oyster Po’ Boy and Smoked Fish Spread, each visit I am drawn to ordering their blackened grouper sandwich and THOSE FRIES! Lord have mercy, their fries get me every time. Topped with fresh grated Parmesan, garlic and parsley, they are hard to resist. I feel like Chris Farley in the famous scene below when I eat those freshly cut wedges of Idaho potato goodness.
Anyway, as I was driving home today and feeling sad that I hadn’t been able to visit a new wing place for my weekly feature, I remembered that Big Ray’s Fish Camp had wings on their menu. Since I pass by them on my way home, I popped in and ordered some wings. Available in Buffalo, Sweet That Chili, BBQ and Old Bay, I went the suggestion of the lovely girl that was helping me and had the Sweet Thai Chili.
Can I just saw how much I love their silver baking trays? Everything is served on one and I love the signature touch it gives to their food. The wings were beautiful in presentation and tossed with just enough sauce. The addition of fresh chopped green onions was a nice addition and I loved the flavor of the wings. On my next visit I will try them with Old Bay, as that is another variation that intrigues me. I will also be sure to order my next set of wings with a side of their famous fries.
I am so glad to be back in my chicken wing game and look forward to sharing my weekly findings with you.
