Howdy folks. Can I just say that I really miss blogging? I started this site six years ago to cure my homesickness for California by celebrating my favorite spots in Tampa. I miss those days and it seems that lately I am nothing but a tired mom of two who is working two jobs and rarely gets a day off. Something has to change before I crash and burn……
One of the highlights on my blog about three years ago was my weekly post on the best chicken wings in Tampa Bay. Wings are my favorite thing to devour while watching football and with the NFL kickoff just days away, I think it is time for me to get back in the saddle again. Last week I was in Plant City for work and decided to take my time heading back and stopped by Johnson BBQ to enjoy some of their mouthwatering wings for the second time.
While the majority of places fry their wings, Johnson BBQ smokes theirs and the result is simple perfection. Smokey chicken that falls off the bone and is dressed in their house-made BBQ sauce, there is no need for a side of dressing. Nothing compares to the smokey flavor of these wings and you will find yourself licking your fingers to absorb every ounce of their succulent BBQ sauce. These wings are made to enjoy alongside a big glass of sweet tea and a side of mac and cheese.
I adore Johnson BBQ. Conveniently located at 1401 W. Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Plant City, this family friendly place has been sharing their down-home BBQ dishes since 1954, when Elton Johnson first began selling BBQ from the back of his Super Test gas station. Featuring Southern favorites such as ribs, pot roast, collard greens, catfish, fried chicken and mac and cheese, Johnson BBQ is a BBQ lover’s destination.
If you are in the area, be sure to stop by. Cheers![?]
