Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but after my crazy week I am looking forward to the weekend. Although I am currently working Sundays due to being short staffed, (gotta love the restaurant business), Sunday has always been a special day for relaxation and enjoying time with family and friends. As a busy single mom of two, I try and make every Sunday fun and filled with food and laughter. This past Sunday, I was graciously invited by Marlow’s Tavern in Carrolwood to come and enjoy their recently launched brunch menu. It was perfect timing, as I have been really neglecting my blog due to intense work demands and quite frankly, I needed a break. My son, Rocco, came along with me, as he has his own blog, The Nutella Fella, which he is also getting ready to dive back into now that summer is over. We headed to church first and then made the drive to Marlow’s Tavern in Carrolwood.
This was my second visit to Marlow’s Tavern and once again, they exceeded my expectations.
We were promptly greeted and opted to sit outside since I tend to do better with natural light when I use my fancy camera. Although it was a warm day, we felt comfortable on their patio since it is covered and has misting fans. Before I get into the tasty details of our brunch, I have to say how awesome our server was. From start to finish he never missed a beat and made us truly feel at home. His name is Dallas so be sure to ask for him if you are ever dining at Marlow’s.
As Rocco and I were drooling over the selection of brunch items on the menu and trying to decide what to order, we were introduced to Timon, who is their food and beverage director. He brought us a tempting bowl of J.T.’s Kettle Chips to nibble on while we decided on what to order for brunch. Do not get me started on those chips!!! I had to ask Dallas to remove them before I devoured the entire dish. Crispy potato chips topped with melted gorgonzola, bacon, Roma tomatoes and scallions, they are sure to get you hooked.
One of the highlights of the brunch is Marlow’s is their Bloody Mar Bar and bottomless Mimosas. Unfortunately, I could not partake in either since I had to go to work after brunch, so I settled for a virgin Bloody Mary and then added some olives stuffed with blue cheese and bacon. Their Bloody Mary Bar features your choice of vodka and bloody mary mixes plus tons of garnishes such as peppers, cucumbers, celery, stuffed olives, bacon and more. If only I did not have to work that day…….
I am already planning my next visit so I can enjoy some adult beverages and brunch with friends.
Since I could not decide what to order, I let me son pick his meal first and he went with the Brooklyn “Egghead” Sandwich. Consisting of a buttery croissant with a fried egg, griddled ham, apple-wood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese, it was the epitome of a breakfast sandwich and he enjoyed every bite.
Rocco also enjoyed a side of hash browns which he kindly shared with his mama.
Now the moment you have been waiting for………….
After spending at least 10 minutes torn between Traditional Chilaquiles or Crab Cakes Benedict, Serious Steak and Eggs or Chicken and Waffles, I took our server’s suggestion and had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Light, fluffy and topped with fresh blueberries, almond lemon crumbles and served with hot syrup and crispy applewood-smoked bacon, they were exactly what I needed after my 70 hour work week. They only thing I needed was a bed nearby, as they put me into a serious food coma. The balance of lemon and ricotta was perfect and I enjoyed my remaining pancakes for breakfast the next day.
Our brunch at Marlow’s was spectacular and I look forward to exploring more of their brunch items and a nice Bloody Mary or mimosa in the very near future. Conveniently located at 13134 N. Dale Mabry Highway, Marlow’s Tavern is sure to become a favorite dining destination. If only I lived closer!
