A Night to Remember at Brews with Attitude

A Night to Remember at Brews with Attitude

Beer, Breweries

I am still thinking about my night attending Brews with Attitude at Pepin Hospitality Center. Truly a magical evening, I had the distinct pleasure of trying so many beers from breweries that are now on my list of places to visit in the near future. Being from Northern California, wine has always been my adult beverage of choice but after studying and tasting so many beer styles over the last year, I have become obsessed with craft breweries. Although it was a stormy night, I found myself huddling inside with fellow beer lovers in Tampa. It was an evening of love, laughter and incredible beer.

This was only my second visit to Pepin Hospitality Center and let me just say that it is one of Tampa’s most gorgeous venues. It was such a joy to be amongst so many local beer lovers and not only did I catch up with old friends, I made new ones and learned more about some of Tampa Bay’s local breweries.

Shipyard was my first stop of the evening and I tried both their Monkey Fist (IPA) and Export (American Blonde Ale). Both were outstanding, especially the Export. Sea Dog was with them and even though I have had most of their selections, I enjoyed a sample of my favorite beer from them, Sunfish, which is one of my go-to beers on a hot Florida day.

3 Daughters out of St. Pete is in my top five list of local breweries. While I have visited their brewery and have featured several of their selections at my restaurant, I did not know that my favorite brew from them was yet to be discovered until this event. Their Coffee Blonde truly knocked my socks off. A blonde ale with subtle hints of roasted coffee and hops, it pours in a deep gold color with a thin, white head. A seasonal release, it is a must-try for those who love blonde ales.

With an abundance of tantalizing food trucks, I was tempted by each and every one of them but decided to try one that I was not familiar with….Around The World Burgers.  The scent of their burgers drew my attention and as expected, I was not disappointed. I enjoyed their specialty, The Goat, which was topped with herb infused goat cheese, applewood bacon, tomato and mango glaze. Perfect for a night of beer sampling, it was one of the best burgers I have had in awhile.

Some of my other favorites of the evening included:

  • Darwin Brewing Company Circa 1926 Tangerine Wheat (Bradenton, FL)
  • Florida Avenue Brewing Company Maple Milk Stout (Tampa, FL)
  • Pair O’ Dice Brewing Company Lucky Lucy (Clearwater, FL)
  • Victory Brewing Company Kirsch Gose (Downington, PA)
  • Southern Tier Brewing Company 2XPresso (Lakewood, NY)
  • St. Arnold Brewing Company Weedwacker (Houston, TX)
  • Big Storm Brewing Company Firestone Black IPA (Odessa, FL)

I am anxiously awaiting for next year’s event and can’t wait to feature many of these beers at my restaurant. If you are a beer lover, this is an event that you can’t miss.

See you in 2016 Brews With Attitude!

**Disclosure: I was given free tickets to this event from Tampa Bay Bloggers in exchange for this review.
