They had me at escargot and when I saw on Facebook that Love’s Artifacts Bar & Grill in South Tampa was featuring an escargot mac n’ cheese, I made plans to head over taste this decadent dish. Escargot is one of my favorite indulgences and I knew it would work well in a mac n’ cheese dish.
My pictures do not do this dish any justice, as I was using my phone and it was late at night. The dim lights of the bar made it hard to capture the beauty of this dish and I had to have my friend use his flashlight app on his phone to shed some light on the subject. At any rate, I really enjoyed this dish and dug my fork into the piping hot pile of cheesy goodness. I truly felt like an archeologist digging for a buried treasure as each forkful was filled with luscious macaroni and either a shrimp or a coveted nugget of escargot. The flavors of white wine and garlic were prominent and I enjoyed every last bite. This is not on their menu and is only featured as a special on occasion. Be sure to call and ask when they will be serving this fantastic dish and grab a spot at the bar for an entertaining night of people watching. There are no televisions at Love’s, as they feel it is important to focus on the lost art of conversation. Be sure to put your smart phone away as well!
