There are tons of delicious food trucks in Tampa Bay, but there is one in particular that holds a special place in my heart. With their funktastic food and über cool personalities, Damion and Heather Davis of Hott Mess dish up some of the best street food in Tampa. Ever since I first saw their truck’s logo, I knew I had to meet this the dynamic duo.

With their home base in my neighborhood, Hott Mess is one of Tampa Bay’s most popular food trucks and is known for their menu loaded with comfort food favorites with their own delicious spin. My first tasty experience from Hott Mess was their Buffalo Chicken Tater Tots and they truly rocked my world. As one of their top sellers, people from around Tampa Bay flock to Hott Mess to get a taste of these ridiculously delicious tots that are topped with shredded buffalo chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch, lettuce, tomato and blue cheese crumbles. Just last week, myself and two friends had an impromptu visit to Hott Mess as they were parked outside of Game Stop on South Dale Mabry and Gandy. It was my friend Matt’s first time eating at Hott Mess so I urged him to order the Buffalo Chicken Tater Tots and he was blown away. Every time he turned his head, I snuck a bite, as they are truly irresistible.
I just had to order their Mac & Cheese Balls since they are not a regular item. Available only about once a month, these balls of mac & cheese goodness require three days of love to prepare them for the hungry crowd. These tasty balls have been on my bucket list for quite sometime and I was ecstatic to sink my teeth into these glorious spheres cheesy comfort food.

Made with American and Sharp Cheddar and then rolled in Italian bread crumbs, they are then battered and fried to golden perfection and served with a luscious marinara sauce. The scent alone will drive you insane.
As soon as my order was ready, I sliced one of them in half with all intentions of sharing with my friends but I shamelessly devoured the first one in just a few bites. The creamy just mac & cheese oozed out and begged to be eaten. As I dipped each forkful into the sexy marinara sauce, all I could do was smile, as this was truly a moment to be savored. Nothing, and I mean nothing, gets between this girl and a fried ball of mac & cheese.
Hott Mess is one of Tampa’s most dynamic food trucks and they continuously strive to create masterpieces that you can’t get anywhere else. To see their schedule, be sure to follow them on Facebook by clicking here. Did I mention they also serve a deep-fried bacon wrapped hot dog? I have not yet tried it but I have it on list of things to eat before the end of 2013. 😉
