So I finally made it to Holy Hog BBQ after driving past it numerous times on the way to my daughter’s daycare each week. I was looking for a place close to home to get wings today and when I remembered that they had wings, I rushed over. With my kids in tow, we walked in and the scent of BBQ was making my mouth water. As much as I wanted St. Louis Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese and Bacon & Cheddar Cornbread, I ordered their Jumbo Wings for myself and two orders of Chicken Tenders off their Little Piglet’s menu for my kids. We grabbed a seat on their outside patio and enjoyed their misting fans on this particularly scorching hot summer day.
My wings arrived and I was impressed by the size and presentation. Served in a brown box atop a silver baking sheet, their wings are jumpy, juicy and pack just enough heat to wake up your taste buds. Paired with fries, celery and chipotle ranch, you get a great portion for the price. I didn’t eat the fries and was pleasantly full for the rest of the day.
Mmmmmmm. I LOVED the sauce on these wings. Spicy and tangy, I found myself devouring each and every wing. As much as I like trying exotic wing sauce flavors, my favorite is a good old-fashioned Buffalo hot sauce and these were sensational.
My kids really enjoyed their chicken tenders and fries as you can from this picture, my son would not even give me a smile as he was to busy with his food. I am one happy mama when my kids eat their food when eating out. The tenders were all white meat and lightly breaded.
Did I mention the handy sink they have on the patio? LOVE IT! Let’s face it, sometime a wet nap just doesn’t cut it and there is nothing worse than eating wings and having to keep making a trip to the bathroom to wash your hands. I am quite obsessive about washing my hands when I eat wings and all I had to do was take two steps from my table. Genius.
Their staff was genuine and we all felt very welcome. Needless to say, I will be going back in the very near future for some of their kick-ass BBQ and a sweet tea.
