My shoe obsession began when I was in third grade. The year was 1983 and I was all of about 8 years old. Jelly shoes were the big thing and I had them in every color. My first pair led to three and before I knew it, I had about a dozen pair. Thank goodness that fad didn’t last but my shoe obsession sure did. By the time I was in seventh grade and attending Catholic school, I was forced to wear a uniform and shoes were the only way I could be different compared to everyone else. I had everything from Keds and Converse to Doc Martens. When I entered high school, I was still attending Catholic school but I was working a part-time job in a restaurant and would spend my entire paycheck on shoes. 😉
Madonna was my first style influence and I will never forget her rhinestone boots in the film Desperately Seeking Susan. I loved the way they sparkled and how cool they looked. I found a pair just like them, much to my parents despair. I was not allowed to wear them outside the house, but I did sneak them out from time to time. That was where my obsession with heels began and I owe it all to Madonna. 🙂
My shoe collection has grown to over 100 pair and I still have shoes from when I was in my early 20’s. My favorite pair are ones that I purchased in Rome in 2001. They are jeweled, low-heeled Giuseppe Zanotti’s that I picked up at a shoe boutique in a quaint shopping district near Campo de’ Fiori. One of my bags was lost by the airline and I was given $400 to replace what was lost. I spent it all on those shoes and a nice dinner. I still have them and only wear them on special occasions.
When I am not out searching for the best chicken wings or discovering new restaurants in Tampa Bay, you can find me shoe shopping. I have many favorite spots in Tampa Bay and one I recently discovered is Fresh Threads in South Tampa. Located at 1543 South Dale Mabry, Fresh Threads offers high quality and designer goods at excellent prices. You will find everything from Coach and Gucci to Louis Vuitton ad Manolo Blahnik. With a fantastic selection of designer clothing, shoes and handbags, Fresh Threads is truly a gem in Tampa Bay.
I feel like a kid in a candy store when I visit Fresh Threads. Their shoe collection is amazing and I have to really restrain myself from splurging. Styles change on a regular basis, so if you see something you like, be sure to grab them before they are gone.
“Life is short, buy the shoes.”
What I love most about shoes is that they can truly jazz up the most casual of outfits. You can wear jeans and a simple t-shirt and when you put on a killer pair of shoes, they really pop.

There are so many styles at Fresh Threads that I want to purchase, like the pair of gorgeous Gucci below. I think today is the perfect day to pop in and see what tempting styles they have available. 🙂
