Eating wings every week is delicious fun but I have to keep the romance alive by trying new and unique flavors. Today I was in Ybor for a few meetings and decided to meet my friend and fellow blogger, Megan (I Run For Wine) at Tampa Bay Brewing Company. It had been a year since my last visit and I was excited to return.
Located on the plaza level of Centro Ybor, Tampa Bay Brewing Company is Ybor’s only Microwbrewery and is equipped to produce up to twelve tap beers, which is more than twice as many as most microbreweries. They always have nine house beers on tap as well as seasonal sodas.
While I was browsing the menu, I saw that they had Cider Wings made with their house brewed Red Eye Ale. SOLD! They sounded fantastic and were exactly what I needed on this very Wingsday……something unique and deliciously different. Their Red Eye Ale is an American amber ale made using American pale 2-row malt, Munich malt, Crystal malt and a small amount of roasted barley for a reddish hue. It is seasoned with Columbus boiling hops and Tettnang for flavor and aroma. I must say, it makes a fantastic addition to their cider wing sauce.
The flavor of the Red Eye Ale Cider Wing Sauce is so delicious that Megan and I both agreed that these were some of the better wings we have had. I truly respect and admire Megan’s opinions and it was nice to share wings with a fellow wing connoisseur. Since I was so hungry, I ate most of them (sorry Megan) and could have easily had more. Nice and jumbo, I practically licked the plate. I am so glad I tried these wings today and am still thinking about them six hours later. The only thing missing was a cold beer but since I was “working” I had to stick with Diet Coke. There is always next time!
Tampa Bay Brewing Company has a great menu with many selections such as burgers, sandwiches, salads and pizza as well as entrees that are prepared using their house brews. I am anxious to return so that I can enjoy some other items along with a beer or two.
I found another great place to get wings in Tampa Bay and I hope you try them if you are in the area.
Until next Wingsday….[?]
