And on the 7th day, God created the Chicken n’ Waffle BLT.  This heavenly sammich from DATZ is a divine creation of boneless fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, bacon and maple-jalapeno aioli sandwiched between two savory waffles and served with their homemade sweet-n-salty chips with a creamy and mild blue cheese drizzle. I have been wanting to try this sammich for several weeks and yesterday, I had a delicious intervention.

Decadent and delectable, words can’t describe the mind-blowing flavors of this glorious sammich. When I took my first bite,  my taste buds were ignited into a delicious frenzy and I felt like John Belushi in The Blues Brothers during the church sermon. I had the seen the light! Tender fried chicken, mouth-watering bacon, savory waffles, what could be better? This sammich takes chicken and waffles to the next level. Praise be to Datz for creating such a sacred sammich!

As if this sammich wasn’t spectacular enough, their homemade chips with blue cheese drizzle and fresh scallions make this dish even better. Perfectly fried, they are the some of the best chips I have tasted in Tampa Bay. Simply addictive, you will find yourself unable to stop eating them. I could not stop!

Now, when I am good, I am good but when I am bad I am better. Since I was enjoying such a sinfully delicious sammich, I decided to pair it with a fabulous cocktail. I had heard so much about their famous Bloody Mary and figured it was the perfect day to order one. For the first time I had their Datz A Mary and it was even better than I imagined. Made with V6 Vodka, Nueske’s Bacon, celery and Salish Alder Smoked Sea Salt, this is the best damn Bloody Mary in Tampa. Period.  Since I like it hot, I had mine with Hangar One Chipotle Vokda and it was delish! I don’t know how I have survived this long without this cocktail.

A day later and I am still thinking about that incredible sammich. Perfect for Sunday brunch, or just lunch period, this sammich will be a life changing experience. You have not lived until you have tasted this and I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a lazy Sunday that relaxing at Datz with this tasty masterpiece. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy one before the end of 2012. You will thank me.  Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
