Arrrrrr, The Wines Of Lido Bay Are Perfect for Tampa Bay!

Ahoy! I love a nice glass o’ grog and have recently discovered some wines from California that are perfect for Tampa Bay. Being the California girl that I am, I have always been a huge fan of California wines and am blessed to have grown up so close to Napa, Sonoma and Calistoga.  No trip home is ever complete without a day or two spent in wine country. Recently I was browsing through twitter and a wine label in my news feed popped up and really caught my eye.  Curious, I clicked on the profile for Lido Bay and decided to check out their web-site and Facebook pages. Immediately I was blown away by their phenomenal marketing and pirate-themed concept. I spent about 30 minutes looking at their pictures and reading about their wines and could not help but think how perfect their wines would be for Tampa Bay. I am not a Tampa native but I have grown very fond of Gasparilla and all things “pirate” that are so eminent in this great city.  I tweeted to Lido Bay and told them how impressed I was with their labels.  The graciously sent me a few samples and after tasting the first bottle, I was even more convinced about how perfect their wines would be for Tampa Bay.

On the Fourth of July while celebrating with friends, I opened a bottle of Pinot Gris from their Seven Seas Collection.  This wine was perfect for such a warm evening in Tampa.  Crisp and dry, this wine has hints of white peaches and sweet apricot. I let a few friends taste it and the bottle began to disappear quickly.  Everyone was raving about how cool the label was and wanted to know where I got this fabulous wine.  Let’s just say I was lucky to have a glass.  🙂

After trying the Pinot Gris, I am really interested in the other wines in the Seven Seas Collection which include a Chardonnay and a Viognier.  I ♥ a nice Viognier. Here is a description of the Seven Seas Collection:

Seven Seas

Set sail for an island where the sands are cool and the nights are hot. It’s time to open the galley doors and let the sweet juices flow freely. These crisp white wines are like golden treasures, sexy, silky and oh-so right. Put the chill on and pour for all your frisky summer mates, day or night.

The next wine I tried was the Pinot Noir from their Bitch Tongue Collection.  I LOVE the name of this series of wine. I spent a nice evening with this sexy, silky Pinot Noir and really fell in love with it. With sensual flavors of cherries, currants and rose petals and hints of clove, this wine quickly shot into the top ten of my favorite Pinot Noirs. I had this wine along with some Penne alla Vodka and it really enhanced the flavor of the sauce.  Looks like I will be ordering some!

Here is the cool description of the Bitch Tongue Series:

Bitch Tongue

Ye ship is sea-worthy, thy mouth is ready. With your first mates aboard, you’re ready to embark on a journey that will rock your world. The light beckons, and the sun is full, rimmed with red. The galley is full, and treasure awaits. Lithe of body and quick of tongue, these fruit-drenched reds desire only your constant attention.

The third bottle they sent me is the Mutiny 2009 Blend, which I have not yet tried.  I am saving this to sample with my favorite wine blogger, Jodi Fritch, aka, Tampa Wine Woman.  She is my wine guru and her site, Wine In Tampa, is one of my favorites.  Described as “an exquisitely balanced blend of our finest grapes all rolled into one sexy long-necked beauty. Polished, supple tannins step aside to allow the ripe flavors of cherry and blackberry to intermingle with sumptuous notes of cedar and toasted spice. Perfect to air with your next rebellious uprising or rendezvous for two.”  I am really anxious to try this wine with Jodi.

Again, they won me over with their description of the Mutiny:

It’s a shot across the bow. Like a true mutiny of the most bountiful grapes, this blend of eight varietals creates the luscious wine awaiting your lips’ touch. Open this red message in a bottle and settle into defiance at its most delicious.

Now, my nickname isn’t “Champagne Girl” for nothing. I am a Champagne and Sparkling Wine fanatic. Lido Bay has a collection that I am really anxious to try……The Booty Collection!  Love, love, love the name and the entire collection sounds like sparkling fun. With Almond, Raspberry and Bubbly Booty, this collection has my name written all over it. I have never met a sparkling wine I did not like and I am sure the Booty Collection will knock my “boots” off.  🙂

Time to toast and raise a glass to thee and that oh-so-fine Booty. The bubbly’s a-pouring and it’s cold when you’re hot. These sparkling wines, Grand Cuvées all, are ripe with flavor, dripping with attitude and light as the night air. Celebrate the day, welcome the night, do whatever’s right. Indulge your love of the sparkle. Share Thy Bubbly, Show Thy Booty.

Arrrrrrrrrr, I see a lot of Booty in my future!

I hope Lido Bay wines will make their way to Florida. I can just picture Gasparilla parties with bottles of Lido Bay being enjoyed by all.  They have been so engaging with social media and are appreciative of the new fans they have in Florida.  Look at this cool picture they posted on their Facebook page for us Floridians:

How cool is that? I will be placing an order for some of their wine and throwing a Wine Pirate Party in the fall. If you like wine and are in Tampa Bay, be sure to comment on this post if you are interested in attending.  In the meantime, be sure and check out Lido Bay on Facebook by clicking here, on twitter @LidoBayWine and on their web-site: Lido Bay. Next time I go home for a visit, I will be sure to stop by and visit the awesome folks at Lido Bay.

Lido Bay, I LOVE YOU!
