“Wingsday” is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week! Each week I am making delicious discoveries of all types of chicken wings. This last week I took the advice of my friend Kelly and went to the Brickhouse Tavern + Tap in Tampa. She raved about their Tavern Wings with the “Man Cave” sauce and based on the name alone, I knew I just had to try them.
The Brickhouse Tavern + Tap is located at 1102 North Dale Mabry Hwy and is just 2 miles from my office. I have been there just once before I had their beefed up steak salad with beef tenderloin, bleu cheese, grilled red onions and candied walnuts on mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette. The salad was excellent and the tenderloin was cooked to perfection. I had been wanting to go back for quite sometime and when my friend invited me to lunch last week, it was a no-brainer, we both agreed on going to Brickhouse.
My friend and I arrived at noon and the place was PACKED! We were seated outside on their relaxing patio and although it was a scorching hot day in Tampa, there was a mild breeze which made sitting outside even more enjoyable. Our server, Christina, and her trainee graciously welcomed us with menus and offered us a beverage. Although I was there to just try wings, I could not help but look at their enticing menu. Meat loaf sliders? SOLD! I was drooling as I read the description: home-baked with bbq sauce, onion strings, mashed potatoes & pickles. As much as I wanted to order them, I had to stay focused on chicken wings. 🙂
As Christina came to take our order, I was drawn to the specials menu and saw a salad that really caught my eye. It was a spinach salad topped with shaved-grilled chicken, red and golden beets, goat cheese, toasted pecans and a shallot-dijon vinaigrette. I decided to order that as my entrée and share an order of wings with my friend. After we placed our order, she brought us the cutest wet-naps I have ever seen. I love how they personalize their own packages.
As we chatted over ice tea, the scent of something delicious filled the air. Our wings were ready and they looked incredible. Served with celery and a side of sriracha ranch, these “man cave” wings looked as delicious as they smelled. Excited, I took a bite and my mouth was bursting with flavor of a sweet yet spicy sauce. Kelly was right, these wings were amazing. I loved that they were larger than most wings and the meat was nice and tender. The sriracha ranch was a nice change over my usual blue cheese.
We ate almost all of them and I took the remaining wings home to enjoy later. Next came our entrees and my salad was ridiculously delicious. I am a huge fan of goat cheese and beets and this salad was generous with both. Words can’t describe how tasty the shallot-dijon vinaigrette was. It was tangy with a hint of spice and just went so well with the goat cheese and beets. I must have said how good my salad was at least five times because my friend kept saying, “wow, you really do like that salad.” I hope they add it to their regular menu.
Needless to say, I had an enjoyable time at Brickhouse and the service we received was some of the best I have ever had. My ice tea was constantly refilled and the servers were not only detail oriented, they were genuine. In fact, I was so impressed with their service that I made a point to mention it to the manager and even wrote a letter to their corporate office.
Thank you Brickhouse Tavern + Tap for such a wonderful dining experience! I loved your man cave wings and can’t wait to go back for the meatloaf sliders.
