Fleming’s, How much do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Cocktails, Restaurants

Some people spend a life time looking for love while others find it right away.  For me it took nine years of living in Tampa Bay to find true love….in the form of a restaurant.  Yes, I am head over heels in love with Fleming’s Steakhouse and can’t believe I discovered them just a short time ago.  I have had the pleasure of dining at Fleming’s twice now, and both visits highly exceeded my expectations.

I work about two miles from the Fleming’s located across from the International Plaza in Tampa. They have an incredible Bar la Cart menu that I am really jazzed about. After a long and stressful day at the office, I can’t think of a better place to go and enjoy delicious food in a beautiful setting while sipping on a cocktail and decompressing from my day.  I dine alone a lot and their bar menu is PERFECT for those who just want to relax and have a casual meal in a bar setting rather than a full dinner at a table.  This menu is also great for social gatherings with friends at the bar. Take a look at these incredible menu selections:

Bar La Cart Menu

HOUSEMADE BURRATA charred grape tomatoes, wild arugula, served with toasted garlic crostinis

SALT & PEPPER SHRIMP crispy french green beans, caper-mustard sauce

PRIME STEAKHOUSE MEATBALLS peppercorn sauce, shiitake mushrooms

FILET MIGNON FLATBREAD Danish blue and Monterey jack cheeses, red onion confit

CEDAR ROASTED MUSHROOM & ARTICHOKE FLATBREAD
Monterey jack cheese, roasted red peppers and Christopher Ranch garlic

FLEMING’S ORIGINAL PRIME RIB MELT swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms and whole-grain mustard, horseradish slaw

THE PRIME BURGER Wisconsin cheddar cheese, peppered bacon and our signature onion rings

My absolute favorite item on the Bar la Carte menu is the Housemade Burrata. With charred grape tomatoes, wild arugula and served with toasted garlic crostinis, this is perfection on a plate. For those that are not familiar with Burrata, let me tell you a little about this Italian masterpiece.  Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is pure mozzarella and the inside consists of both mozzarella and cream, thus giving it a very soft texture….like buttah! It is served fresh and at room temperature. In Italian, “burrata” means “buttered.”  This dish is simple yet the flavors are incredible.

Another favorite of mine is the Salt & Pepper Shrimp.  Tender fried shrimp seasoned with salt and pepper and served with crispy french green beans and caper-mustard sauce, this is perfect for sharing. I like this in that it is a nice change from traditional fried calamari which is often seen on bar menus.  Fried lemon slices are included in this dish which add a nice citrus flavor that is not too overpowering.

I am a huge fan of flatbread and Fleming’s has two wonderful selections on their menu.  I tried the Cedar Roasted Mushroom & Artichoke Flatbread which is topped with Monterey jack cheese, roasted red peppers and Christopher Ranch garlic. Growing up only 20 miles from the garlic capital of the world, I have always been a huge fan of Christopher Ranch garlic and was delighted to see it on the flatbread.  Nothing goes better together than mushrooms and artichokes and this dish is a winner.  It was so good I think I ate about 4 pieces.

Fleming’s also offers a Filet Mignon Flatbread topped with Danish blue and Monterey jack cheeses and a red onion confit. I will be sure to try this one on my next visit along with a glass of wine from their fabulous wine list.

Another item that looks beyond fabulous is Fleming’s Original Prime Rib Melt with swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, whole-grain mustard and horseradish slaw. Prime Rib is one of my ultimate comfort foods and I can’t wait to try this on my next visit.

As an Italian, I LOVE a good meatball and Fleming’s has won me over with their Prime Steakhouse Meatballs with peppercorn sauce and shiitake mushrooms. These hearty meatballs have incredible flavor and I especially like the addition of the mushrooms.  Pair this with a nice martini or a glass of vino and you will be singing “Fly Me To The Moon.”

Fleming’s has also won my heart by featuring “skinny cocktails”.   Their list is impressive:

Fleming’s Skinnier Cocktails

TICKLED PINK Belvedere Vodka, Mionetto Prosecco, orange juice and raspberry

BIKINITINI Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka, lemon juice, orange juice, Monin sugar-free syrup and soda water

STOLI BOMBSHELL Stoli Vanil Vodka, fresh raspberries, raspberry preserves and freshly squeezed lime juice

FARMER’S SKINNY DAUGHTER Ketel One Vodka, fresh basil leaves, strawberries, freshly squeezed lemon and cranberry juices

RUSSIAN PROM QUEEN Stoli Blueberi Vodka, fresh lime juice, cucumber, blueberries, Monin sugar-free syrup and soda water

STILETTO Hendrick’s Gin, fresh blackberries, lime and ginger

If you know me, then I am sure you can guess which one I tried. Yes, I went with the Stiletto. Not only did the name draw my attention, but the ingredients as well. Hendrick’s Gin is my favorite gin on the market and that combined with ginger, I knew it would be a delicious experience. This cocktail is sexy and fresh, much like a pair of Jimmy Choo’s.

As you can see, the Bar la Carte menu at Fleming’s is filled with culinary delights and perfect for a quick bite after a long day at the office or for celebrating over cocktails with friends.  I am ecstatic that I have finally met my true love and hope you will stop by to see why I am madly in love with this establishment.

I would like to mention one thing that really made my evening at Fleming’s even more special.  My server, Heather, was beyond fantastic.  As someone who has worked in the service industry for years, I was completely blown away by her impeccable service. I have to say it was the best service I have had thus far in Tampa.  Be sure and request her if you happen to sit in the dining room!

Cheers everyone!

Love,

Tracy
