New Sizzlin’ Summer Menu at Lee Roy Selmon’s

The temperature is not the only thing heating up this summer! Lee Roy Selmon’s has just introduced their new summer menu and I had the opportunity to attend a menu tasting last week and everything is a winner.  With new appetizers, fresh and filling salads, delicious entrees and decadent new desserts, this new menu is fit for a champion. Let me give you a play-by-play of my wonderful meal.


Mediterranean Shrimp Flatbread- $8.49:  Rock shrimp, basil oil, feta cheese, roasted red peppers, kalamata olives, plum tomatoes and fresh basil.

The presentation on this dish is beautiful and the flavor is outstanding. I really love the combination of the rock shrimp with the feta and fresh basil. Just one bite and I was reminded of some of my favorite places back in California. This is perfect to share with a group or order for yourself for lunch. I would also enjoy this with a nice glass of wine for a light dinner.

Popcorn Shrimp – $7.99:     Rock shrimp, served with spicy cocktail and sweet red pepper sauce

You can never go wrong with popcorn shrimp and Lee Roy Selmon’s has done a fabulous job on this classic dish. The two dipping sauces are a nice touch and I especially love the sweet red pepper sauce which is both sweet and savory. This is a crowd pleaser and will have you cheering for more.

Asian Chicken Salad – $9.99: Crisp greens tossed with carrots, red cabbage, crisp wontons  in a sweet Asian vinaigrette and topped with cashews and mandarin oranges.

This salad was my favorite, especially the dressing. I have always loved Asian Chicken and Lee Roy Selmon’s has scored a touch down with their version. Cool and refreshing, this salad is perfect for a quick-lunch or a light dinner.

Mediterranean Shrimp Salad…..10.99:  Romaine lettuce with feta cheese, kalamata olives, cucumbers, red onions and grilled shrimp served with a lemon vinaigrette.

Another winner on the summer menu, this salad is phenomenal and perfect for a hot, summer day. The lemon vinaigrette is the perfect match for the grilled shrimp and feta cheese. This salad is also perfect for sharing and pairs nicely with the Gridiron Steak.

One of the highlights of the summer menu is that there are three grilled entrees for $9.99 each. You have your choice of Gridiron Steak, Cedar Plank Salmon or a Half Rack of Baby Back Ribs.  All are served with a side of their new Sweet Sizzlin’ Corn which is brushed with chipotle mayo and rolled in Cotija Cheese. Let me just say……it is going to blow your mind! I have been to Mexico several times and fell in love with the grilled corn sold by street vendors in such cities as Guadalajara and Mazatlan. Since my last trip to Mexico, I have had this insatiable craving for authentic Mexican grilled “elote” and Lee Roy Selmon’s has done it with their Sweet Sizzlin’ Corn! I have not stopped talking about this corn for the past week and can’t wait to go back for more.

After sampling the appetizers and salads, I was getting full but I managed to try all three entrees.  (Tough job, I know!) All three were terrific and I was really impressed with the Salmon. I must say, Salmon is not my favorite but I really enjoyed their version. There is something about cedar plank that just creates such a unique flavor!  The Gridiron Steak was grilled to perfection and paired with the Sizzlin’ Summer Corn makes for a perfect meal.  As always, the ribs were perfection and even though I was only able to eat just one, I took the rest home and they made a fabulous dinner. 🙂

As I sat in my booth feeling full and relaxed, I was then presented with not one but THREE desserts!  Just like playing in a big game, I had to gear up for more. I was not going to let a full stomach interfere with some sweet endings to a great meal. Here is my re-cap:

Crunch Time Sundae…………………….2.99: Scoop of vanilla ice cream rolled in Captain Crunch, topped with hard shell chocolate, whipped cream and Reese’s peanut butter chips.

WOW! This sundae reminds me of a certain former Tampa Bay Buccaneer. The Crunch Time Sundae is small but it’s flavor is big and will surprise you like an 80 yard TD run by Warrick Dunn. It’s the perfect end to a nice meal. In addition to this Crunch Time Sundae, they are also featuring Georgia Peach Cobbler and Selmon’s Bread Pudding.  Both are fantastic.  I must admit, as full as I was, I could have easily eaten all three. 🙂

The new summer menu would not be complete without some refreshing cocktails.  With featured selections such as the Strawberry Mojito, Whiskey Afternoon and the Fresh Stag Sour, you will be sure to find something to go sip on while watching the big game or just relaxing amongst friends. Here are some of the stars of the new line-up:

Whiskey Afternoon – $5.99:  Red Stag Honey Tea, Fresh Lemonade, Fresh Iced Tea and Blood Orange Juice
Fresh Stag Sour – $5.99:  Red Stag Bourbon, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white
Strawberry Mojito – $5.99:  Bacardi rum, simple syrup, mint leaves, hulled strawberries,
fresh squeezed lime and topped with club soda.
