Cheese Please!

Beer, Cheese, South Tampa, Wine

Cheese, wine and stilettos are three of my favorite things and I found all of them at a cozy little gourmet cheese shop in South Tampa.  I have driven past Cheese Please  many times while rushing to or from work and it has been on my list of places to visit for months. Last week I had the opportunity to stop in and was pleasantly surprised.  Located at 4213 S. Manhattan (next to Pondscapes), Cheese Please is the only gourmet cheese shop located in Tampa Bay.

With selections from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Holland, the U.K and the Netherlands, to name just a few, there is truly something for the cheese lover in everyone. I was impressed with their vast selection and my eyes lit up  when I saw that my favorite cheese was a new arrival. Barely Buzzed, from the Beehive Cheese Company in Utah, is full-bodied with a smooth texture and nutty flavor. This masterpiece is hand rubbed with a Turkish grind of Colorado Legacy  Coffee Company’s “Beehive Blend” which is a mix of Indonesian and both Central and South American beans. French lavender buds are ground with the coffee, thus perfecting the flavor. One bite and your palate will be graced with notes of butterscotch and caramel.

While browsing the cheese selections, I was captivated by the different types of gourmet condiments they offer. Wine and beer jellies, honey, pepper jellies, pastes, Tapenades and Olives. I sampled a Merlot jelly with a Spanish Manchego and was delighted with the flavor combination. I purchased a few jellies to take home including one that really caught my eye, “Beer Belly Jelly.”

My 5-year-old son, Rocco, was with me during my visit and was quick to point out all of the wonderful boutique items they offer, especially the amazing selection of stiletto-themed products.  He picked up a beautiful black stiletto bottle stopper and said, “Mommy, I want to buy this for you!” I, of course, loved it and added it to my large collection of items to purchase at the register. My son sure knows his mama! Cheese Please offers a selection of gorgeous wine and cheese accessories.  It is the perfect place to pick something up for the wine or cheese aficionado in your life.

My son had as much fun as I did and found this super cool stiletto chair to sit in while I looked around. It kept him out of trouble. 🙂

At Cheese Please you can sample any of the cheeses they offer. The staff and owners are very friendly and knowledgeable and can answer any of your questions. On Friday and Saturday nights, they offer cheese tastings from 7-9 pm.  For $25, you get to sample 8 cheeses perfectly paired with wine and condiments. Tastings sell out fast, so be sure and reserve a spot on-line by clicking here.  I plan on attending a tasting in the next month or so and will be featuring it on my blog.

As always, I love to share the love with my readers! I am giving away a gift basket with a bottle of wine, two cheese condiments, some of my favorite “Barely Buzzed” cheese and a few other goodies.  I will pick a winner on April 15th.
